TRIPOLI RAIL WAY STATION

TRIPOLI-LEBANON

The project was a part of the lab works of the master’s program to provide a revitalization plan for Tripoli Railway Station.

The aim is to provide a future vision for Tripoli Railway Station based on sustainable development and modernity to help the city play its previous major role before the war.

CONCEPT- NORTH LEBANON GATEWAY

Tripoli Railway Station began operating in 1901, connecting north Lebanon with the Syrian cities. In 1942, the station was connected to the central railway station of Beirut. This connection increases the importance of the Tripoli Railway Station as it became the gateway for the North of Lebanon. Its location by the seashore adjacent to the Tripoli Seaport was a mandatory station for passengers moving abroad to Lebanon and vice-versa.

PROGRAM

The project required developing a new contemporary railway station located parallel to the old station, keeping the old station as a museum.

The museum will hold the old stations’ buildings, available locomotives made at the end of the nineteenth century, and the wagons that all carry the traces of the Lebanese Civilian War. Note: This part was excluded from this project.
